Volunteering with Enliven Mama Africa you’ll have the opportunity to work on several development projects and experience everything Ghana has to offer. Working 5 days a week you’ll gain an understanding of what the project is, why it exists and the outcomes it will deliver.
Ghana boasts incredible tourist attractions and we want to make sure you get the chance to see and do everything you can. We help organize excursions and join you on them, time off is given on evenings and weekends.
Enliven Mama Africa staff accompany you and your group from when you arrive at the airport until we drop you back off to ensure you are safe and have the best possible experience. You are welcome to travel independently if you wish.
What you will be doing
We turn unused classroom space into vibrant libraries in schools. Volunteers do everything from building the furniture, painting the room to putting the books on the shelf. We’ve built 344 Libraries since 2010 and with our partners donated over 518,000 books and study materials.
Building ICT Labs
Volunteers will be assisting a qualified teacher to teach ICT & help provide ICT equipment to schools, with the end goal of building ICT Labs within our partner schools.
We provide home based support to 140 caregivers of 270+ orphans and vulnerable children. Volunteers will be helping build income generating farms and/or improving living conditions for these families.
We develop all our projects with local stakeholders, ensuring the work we do has a positive impact. Volunteering is hands on, you’ll get to meet the beneficiaries of our projects and work with knowledgeable staff who can give you great insight into the development sector.
We’ve been running and developing our volunteering trips since 2010, you’ll find the experience very rewarding and work with some amazing people.

Ghana is a fantastic place to explore, with large national parks, waterfalls, castles, rainforest walks, lakes, museums, markets, picturesque beaches and lots of cultural attractions. Evenings can be spent taking in the local culture, music and food, while weekends can be spent walking over the rooftops of the rainforest, on an elephant safari or relaxing on the beach. There’s certainly nothing boring about Ghana and to help you see and experience as much as possible we’re here to help, we provide an excursion package at cost price.
We ask every volunteer to raise a minimum sponsorship amount towards their trip, to help we provide an online fundraising page and downloadable fundraising materials so you can fundraise this cost. Minimum sponsorship is due 4 weeks before departure; giving you plenty of time to fundraise. Eliven Mama Africa is 100% funded by volunteer fundraising and it pays for everything you are involved in and everything provided to you.
We have limited accommodation & transport and can only accept a certain amount of volunteers at one time, we therefore ask you apply early and if accepted confirm your place as soon as possible.
